Middlesbrough's Big Wheel is great fun.
The 40m Wheel in Centre Square has become a striking addition to Middlesbrough’s skyline, clearly visible from the A19 flyover and illuminated at night.
Rides last around 12 minutes and feature three revolutions of the Wheel, affording passengers fantastic views across Middlesbrough and beyond.
The Wheel is also creating up to 20 local jobs for the duration of its stay.
Middlesbrough Mayor Ray Mallon said: “We’re very pleased to have been able to work with Great City Attractions to bring the Wheel of Middlesbrough to the town...
“It’s a welcome addition to the Middlesbrough skyline and can only add to the town’s reputation as a first rate destination for entertainment and leisure.”
The Wheel of Middlesbrough is 40m high, with 30 glass-sided and climate-controlled observation pods, each carrying up to eight people (eg six adults and two children). There is also a VIP capsule which carries 4 people.
Rides last around 12 minutes and feature three revolutions of the wheel, affording passengers fantastic views across Middlesbrough and beyond.
The final date for visitors to be able to travel on the Wheel is expected to be Sunday, February 28. Discussions will take place in due course over the Wheel’s possible return at a later date.
