Cleveland College of Art and Design textile students have returned from a Paris trade fair with orders for their designs. International fashion houses were so impressed they bought the rights to work produced by students from CCAD.

Buyers from all over the world attended the Premiere Vision exhibition at Parc D’Exposition in Paris.
Forty one students, studying either the BA honours textiles and surface design or the FDA contemporary textile practice course, attended, the only college representation from the whole of the North-East.
International buyers bought 16 designs further enhancing the college’s reputation for outstanding work.
Programme leader Tricia Mackenzie and tutors Jayne Hemmins and Claire Baker accompanied the students on the six day trip of a lifetime.
Jayne, the pathway leader for the FDA contemporary textile practice course, said: “It is a massive and tremendously prestigious exhibition and I feel incredibly proud that our students sold work.
“The trade show is a fantastic experience for the students and Paris itself is such a richly diverse and culturally important place, with its museums, art galleries and architecture, that it provides the perfect place for a study visit.”
Jennie Harrison, 21, of Bishop Auckland, who is studying a BA in textiles and surface design, said: “Having work actually bought feels like a huge achievement because it means that our designs will be out there and may appear anywhere in the world. Paris was an absolute inspiration and I loved the architecture.”
