A young clothing entrepreneur is the latest independent retailer to open a shop in Middlesbrough’s burgeoning Corner Emporium.
Holly’s Rack is a vintage clothing store stocking authentic and remade items of clothing and accessories.
Owner Holly Naughton, 20, from New Marske, studied textiles at college and is now putting her skills to good use, by customising and tailoring items to offer a bespoke men’s and women’s service.
The Corner Emporium is Middlesbrough’s flagship project to promote start-up retail businesses in Middlesbrough and reduce the number of empty retail units in the town.
The Emporium opened in December 2010 and has since supported 24 businesses to test-trade their business ideas in a risk-free environment.
Four businesses have moved into their own units within the town while others successfully sell online and attend craft fairs and farmers markets.
Holly aims to make her business stand out from her competitors by offering the personal touch, not only with her clothing but also through a specialised gift wrapping service and the introduction of a customer loyalty scheme.
Holly said: “I think people will choose to shop at Holly’s Rack over other vintage stores because I offer a request service, where customers can come in with their own clothing or clothing they have bought from the store, and have it studded, dyed or sewn into for a small fee.”
Holly’s Rack opens on Friday, August 17 at 9am, with a launch party on Saturday, August 18 when customers can get 10% of everything for one day only.
You can check out her lovely wares online too at www.hollysrack.com
More units at the Corner Emporium are due to become available over the next couple of weeks, giving would-be entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to test-trade their business idea within the Corner Emporium.
