Short Description:

The official visitor and leisure guide for Middlesbrough.

Long Description

Launched in December 2007, visitmiddlesbrough.com is the official guide to visiting and spending time in Middlesbrough. The site features up-to-the-minute information, news and special offers for hotels, events, restaurants, theatre, nightlife, bars, clubs and attractions. Also includes travel, support and maps.

Destination Description

Once dubbed the 'Hercules' of Britain's industrial empire, Middlesbrough has the culture and spirit of a Northern city despite its formal status as a town. The commercial mecca of the Tees Valley, Middlesbrough has tons of high street shops, bars, designer boutiques, clubs and restaurants, all enveloped by a unique skyline that traces the town's monumental heritage.

Middlesbrough's vibrant entertainments scene and emerging renaissance, signaled by the opening of the new groundbreaking Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, Middlesbrough Centre Square and the internationally acclaimed Prissick Skate Plaza make the town an exciting and feelgood place to visit. Look out for Middlesbrough's ongoing bid to establish itself as a must-see European city as plans for the visionary Middlehaven waterfront development begin to take shape.

Middlesbrough's phenomenal heritage provides the inspiration for a number of well established museums and attractions including the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum (close to the site where Cook was born in 1728), Newham Grange Leisure Farm (a site farmed in Middlesbrough for over 900 years), the Dorman Museum and Transporter Bridge (Middlesbrough's famous iconic landmark) Visitor Centre. Middlesbrough is also an ideal touring base for Captain Cook Country, the North Yorkshire Moors and the Tees Valley.
