Our History and Ambitions......Formed in 2002 Steelworks is based in Acklam Middlesbrough. The band has 40 members and has developed as a result of further funding support from Middlesbrough Council Arts Development, Youth Music and the Big Lottery.

Steelworks operates an open access policy where people of all ages can come along to a rehearsal and join in. Rehearsals take place on Thursdays at Hall Garth School, Middlesbrough. Are you, or do you know anyone, interested in learning to play a Steel Pan?

Steelworks offer the following types of workshop:
• One-off taster sessions
• Regular sessions for beginners or established players
• INSET for Teachers across Key Stages
• Strategic planning and consultancy

Our fee is negotiable dependent on requirements and also upon whether the client has their own pans or require to hire ours, but is in the range of £70 per tutor per hour.

Steelworks offer the following types of performance:
• Formal concerts with a programme offering world music, classical, popular and jazz pieces
• Wedding receptions
• Dance and dinner parties
• Outdoor festivals and carnivals

Our Programme generally comprises 2 or 3 x 30 minute sets though we are flexible. Our Fee is negotiable dependent upon the type of the event, time and travel requirements.
