

The Rainbow Leisure Centre was the first purpose-built leisure centre in Middlesbrough and opened in Coulby Newham in 1986.
The open-access facility with its versatile accommodation makes it an ideal venue for a variety of different activities. It has a six-court multi-purpose Sports Hall which is used for 5 a side football, basketball, soft play, national league roller hockey and has even been used by the Royal Shakespeare company throughout the year's it has been open.
The addition of the Swimming Pool in 1998 has helped diversify the range of
activities available. It now hosts a comprehensive range of pool sessions including casual swimming, aquafit, aquanatal, water polo and the ASA Aqualink swimming lesson scheme which currently has over 1000 adults and children being taught to swim.
The location, wide range of activities and accessibility of the venue make it a integral part of the local community.
