Free parking during the Winter Festival 2009

Parking for the Disabled

The Council allows free parking without time limits in all its pay and display car parks for disabled badge holders. This provision applies to all spaces in all types of car parks (long, short and limited-stay) and not just in dedicated disabled bays. Dedicated disabled bays are provided in all the main Council car parks as well as on street close to all the major town centre destinations.

Lorry and Coach Parking

The Council operates a pay and display lorry and coach park at Cannon Park (map reference 7). This facility has 12 spaces and is open 24 hours a day.

Parking charges apply Monday to Saturday 8.00am to 6.00pm and are as follows;

£1.60 for 2 hours
£2.20 for up to 4 hours
£2.70 for all day

Please note there are no toilet, washing or café facilities on this site.

Motorcycle Parking

There is a dedicated motorcycle parking area on the ground floor of Captain Cook Square multi storey car park (map reference 1)

An area on the ground floor of the car park has been set aside and signed and laid out specifically for motorcycles only. Special motorcycle locking units have been installed with room for over 30 motorcycles and the area is monitored by the car park’s CCTV system and overlooked by the attendants cabin. Motorcyclists can use these facilities free of charge throughout the opening hours of the car park which are 7.00am until 7.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10.00am until 6.00pm on Sundays.

A number of other Council car parks also have motorcycle parking bays and these are shown on the town centre car parks map.

Cycle Parking

Cycling

Cyclists working in or visiting Middlesbrough town centre are advised to use the Middlesbrough Cycle Centre. Based in Middlesbrough Bus Station, in the heart of the town centre, it provides the following facilities to members; free secure indoor cycle parking spaces, showers, changing rooms, lockers and toilets, cycling information and guides. Membership is free.

Safer Parking

Park Mark Safer Parking Logo

All 10 main town centre Council car parks have now achieved 'ParkMark' Safer Parking Award status. These awards are granted to car parks where their design, security facilities and management have created a safe parking environment where opportunities for crime have been minimised. The 'Park Mark' car parks are Zetland, Captain Cook Square, mima, Buxton Street, Gurney Street, France Street, Station Street, Denmark Street, Cannon Park and Wood Street.
