Safer Parking

All 10 main town centre Council car parks have now achieved 'ParkMark' Safer Parking Award status. These awards are granted to car parks where their design, security facilities and management have created a safe parking environment where opportunities for crime have been minimised. The 'Park Mark' car parks are Zetland, Captain Cook Square, MIMA, Buxton Street, Gurney Street, France Street, Station Street, Denmark Street, Cannon Park and Wood Street.

Extended Opening

Commencing on 4th October 2007 a number of town centre stores and shopping centres will remain open until 8 pm every Thursday. The extended trading hours will continue well after Christmas to develop Thursdays in Middlesbrough as a late night shopping destination. As part of this 'Alive After Five' initiative the Council, along with Hillstreet and The Mall have all agreed to offer car parking free from 4.00 pm. All Council car parks will be free of charge after 4.00pm on Thursdays until further notice. The car parks will also remain open until 9.00pm.

Parking for the Disabled

Middlesbrough Borough Council is committed to providing high quality facilities for disabled motorists in Middlesbrough. The Council allows free parking without time limits in all its pay and display car parks for disabled badge holders. This provision applies to all spaces in all types of car parks (long, short and limited-stay) and not just in dedicated disabled bays. Dedicated disabled bays are provided in all the main Council car parks as well as on street close to all the major town centre destinations.
