Thistle Middlesbrough's talented team of chefs have been busy cooking up a first-class reputation for the hotel and their hard work has now been recognised with an AA Rosette.
Head chef Andrew Matthewman was delighted to accept the top food accolade on the team's behalf.
As the only establishment in the town to now carry the AA Rosette recognition, Andrew, who is supported by sous chef Richard Hardy, depends on the dedication of the whole team to ensure the dining and banqueting services are of the highest quality.
Guests and diners at the 132 bedroom hotel can enjoy watching the chefs at work from the contemporary Gengis restaurant's open gallery, which directly overlooks the kitchen.
Andrew comments: "This award is testament to the hard work and efforts of the whole team here. We have all been working together to completely raise the standard of food service we provide and it has certainly paid off - we are all absolutely thrilled."
General manager Peter Llewellyn added: "Middlesbrough is not necessarily renowned for its fine dining reputation, but our achievement of the AA Rosette proves that we have what it takes to provide a high standard of food with an equally excellent service."
"Thistle Middlesbrough sees this recognition as the start of flying the flag for fantastic cuisine in the area."
The Gengis restaurant serves a wide selection of traditionally British, hearty dishes with a continental and Asian twist and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
