Michael McIntyreTwo of TV's favourite comics have chosen to come back to Middlesbrough Town Hall this summer after being hugely impressed by their previous visits to the town.

Michael McIntyre has chosen to play an exclusive warm-up gig in July before his huge arena tour kicks off later this summer, and Jimmy Carr has added an extra date in August for his 'Joke Technician' tour after describing the Town Hall as his 'favourite gig' on national TV.

Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow - his new BBC1 Saturday night show - is a runaway hit with audiences and reviewers alike, and his DVD has become the highest selling debut stand-up DVD of all time.

Jimmy Carr will be returning to Boro by huge popular demand in August for the third time in less than a year, with an extra date for his 'Joke Technician' tour after both his previous Town Hall shows sold out months in advance.

Graham Ramsay of promoters Ten Feet tall, and Laura Hannaway from Middlesbrough Town Hall are delighted about bagging both shows.

Graham Ramsay said: "Michael's quite simply the biggest new comedy star to emerge in recent years. And he loved his last gig in Middlesbrough so much that he's chosen us for an intimate warm-up before his first ever arena tour. How good is that?"

Laura Hannaway said: "And Jimmy is just amazing. We saw him on ITV's 'Loose Women' when he said Middlesbrough was his favourite place to play. Bearing in mind he's played hundreds and hundreds of shows in the past few years, then that's saying something really special about the Town Hall."

Other comedy highlights at The Town Hall later this year include top impressionist Alistair McGowan, Jason Manford from '8 Out of 10 Cats,' Dave Spikey from Phoenix Nights, TV's favourite Grumpy Old Women featuring Jenny Eclair, while Big Mouth Comedy Club continues to bring some of the best comics on the UK circuit to the Town Hall Crypt on the first Saturday of each month.
