

Bungee jumping at the Transporter Bridge takes place every third and forth Saturday or Sunday morning of the month between 9am and 1.30pm. The 'jumpers' need to book the jump and report to the Visitor Centre on the Sunday morning. They are then registered, weighed and have to sign an indemnity form, then they are fitted with a harness before being taken up to the top walkway of the bridge. Once they are on the top walkway they are weighed again and fitted with the required bungee rope for their weight. They bungee off the centre of the bridge 160 feet above the river. They are then lowered into a boat on the river and transferred back to the shore. Do you think you are up for the challenge? If so, the dates for 2009 are as follows:

At Hartington interchange turn left over Metz Bridge into North Road A178, turn left into Snowdon Road, at roundabout take 3rd exit into Vulcan Street at junction with Ferry Road turn left then first right along A178 to Ferry Road and the Transporter.
Nearest station is Middlesbrough Station. Exit the station onto Bridge Street West, turn right and walk to the junction with Albert Road. Turn left and walk to Ferry Road.
