Making their debut at Middlesbrough Town Hall, the Vienna Tonkunstler Orchestra is one of the most important institutions of traditional Austrian musical culture. Under their charismatic conductor Kristjan Jarvi, considered to be one of the most exciting and dynamic conductors of his generation, the critically acclaimed orchestra is also accompanied by the international known pianist Mikhail Rudy.
The Tonkünstler's repertoire is constantly being expanded, both by adding contemporary works and by finding new rarities ranging in date from the 18th to the 20th century. On the one hand, the orchestra's tonal culture is based on almost 100 years of history and a solid interpretative tradition. On the other hand, the orchestra has been setting new directions with fresh programming and a wide-ranging music-education project aimed at young people.
See them on Sunday 17th February. For further details click here.
