Middlesbrough Town Hall is proving again that you don't need to travel far to enjoy the very best in music as it brings you another top class musician. Returning to the Town Hall after over 10 years Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will take to the main stage on Wednesday 14 May 2008 at 8.00pm.
The sensational pianist and front man will perform with his 18-piece Rhythm and Blues Orchestra featuring drummer Gilson Lavis (ex Squeeze Drummer) and the magnificent guest soloists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall.
"This is a great opportunity to see one of the greatest performers of our time. Jools and the band are sensational live. We all get to see him playing with various artists on 'Later with Jools Holland' but on stage he really comes alive. Middlesbrough Town Hall is committed to bringing the Tees Valley and the North East a wide variety of high quality music and artists and confirming Jools only adds to this"
Laura Hannaway, Middlesbrough Town Hall
Touring all over the country and Europe Jools and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra now play to audiences in excess of 500,000. All musicians in the band are professional session musicians who are recognised in their own right.
Tickets for the performance are £29.50. Contact the Box Office on 01642 729 729 to book tickets or for further information.
Jools Holland has announced that the critically acclaimed singer and songwriter Marc Almond will join him on stage when he performs at the Town Hall.
Marc first came to the public's attention as one half of the electro duo Soft Cell in the early 1980s; their biggest hit, Tainted Love, was number one all over the world and is in the Guinness Book of Records as spending the longest time in the U.S. Top 100. Marc re-recorded his song Say Hello Wave Goodbye with Jools in 2001 for the platinum-selling Friends album.
Laura Hannaway from Middlesbrough Town Hall, told us "having Marc performing alongside Jools and the band adds another dimension to the evening. We are really excited about the addition to the already exceptional line-up. The night promises to be one to remember".
