WorldFest 08 is set to be a celebration of the wider world brought to the Tees Valley for our local enjoyment - celebrating our diversity with an added global dimension. Worldfest will consist of a number of events, some youth or community based, some with headline acts, all brought to you by Tees Valley Arts in partnership with African Arts Association and Middlesbrough Council.
Rowena Sommerville, Director of Programmes at Tees Valley Arts said she is delighted that the festival partners are once again bringing a stunning line up to the Tees Valley - including a reggae legend - and offering a range of events that are something new, exciting and enjoyable for everyone.
The programme includes:
Thursday 22nd May, Arc Stockton, 7.30 - 11pm Nuit d'Afrique
Saturday May 24th, Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt, 1- 3pm, WorldFest Youth Event
A showcase of young performers, dancers, artists and musicians from diverse backgrounds from across the Tees Valley Celebrate with us!
Saturday May 24th, Middlesbrough Town Hall, 7.30 - 11pm Reggae-tastic Gala Night
+ Late night extra - boogie to Beta Simon and his band in the Town Hall Crypt, 11.30pm - 12.30am
Middlesbrough Music Live, Sunday June 1st
Enjoy the WorldFest stage with locally-based diverse musicians, as part of Middlesbrough's biggest non-stop great live music event.
