Winter Lantern Procession with Fireworks 13 December

The famous Liverpool Lantern Company create a spectacular community based carnival on 13 December bringing light, magic, wonder and fairytale to the streets of Middlesbrough starting at 4 pm.

Lanterns made by local audiences become part of a beautiful illuminated installation and backdrop to the inale event, a firework display celebrating winter and the festive season in Centre Square.

If you would like to get involved in lantern making sessions join the Carnival Club for ages 7+ at Middlesbrough Town Hall. Contact 01642 729 729.

Traffic restrictions

Traffic restrictions will be in place for the Reindeer Parade on 15 Nov, Sarruga Fish on 26 Nov, and the Lantern Parade on 13 Dec. Take this into consideration when you plan your journey.

Parking during the Winter Festival 2009

During the Middlesbrough Winter Festival there is free parking on Thursdays after 4pm in The Mall and Council car parks only.

Parking all day Saturday in the Zetland car park will be £1.50.

There is always free parking for the disabled

The Council allows free parking without time limits in all its pay and display car parks for disabled badge holders. This provision applies to all spaces in all types of car parks (long, short and limited-stay) and not just in dedicated disabled bays.
