Two intimate shows in the splendour of Middlesbrough Reference Library by local music favourites Cattle & Cane have now sold out.

The group, whose music recently caused pop legend Elton John to exclaim “God, I love that!”, are heading out on a stripped back acoustic show in some unlikely settings.

As well as the Reference Library gigs, both on Saturday, September 16 - one a matinee performance - Cattle & Cane will be live on stage in a launderette and a deli over the course of their tour.

The band, made up of siblings Joe and Helen Hammill and joined live by brother Fran Hammill and guitarist Thom Fripp are on the road to coincide with a newly recorded self-titled EP.

Joe said: “Although we recorded all of these tracks at home on Teesside, they’ve definitely been influenced by time spent writing, touring and recording overseas.

“I co-wrote the first track Home Is In Your Arms in Nashville – it’s hard not to come away from that place feeling inspired.”

The EP also features re-worked tracks from their second album Mirrors which hit the top 20 earlier this year, as well as a cover of Candi Staton’s Young Hearts Run Free.

Cllr Mick Thompson, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Culture and Communities, said: “We are pleased to be hosting Cattle & Cane at the Reference Library and that both shows have now sold out.

“The room is a unique setting for this kind of show and it should be a great day for the band and the audience.”

Following their intimate acoustic tour Cattle & Cane head to Germany in October on the latest leg of their promotional full band tour.
