A workshop production of this brand-new play created by Anne Fothergill based on a series of experiences in Nazareth House, full of warmth, comedy and shared memories.

January 1951, two-year-old Anne Traynor’s world is about to change forever when her mother walks out on her family. She leaves behind her husband, Raphy, son Denis and daughters Elizabeth and Anne.

Ten days later Elizabeth and Anne are taken to a convent in Middlesbrough run by the poor sisters of Nazareth – Nazareth House, where the rules are strict and there is the ever-present threat from the bullies, the nuns and, according to them, even from God. Friendships are formed and there is camaraderie among the girls – and rules are there to be broken.

A humorous and illuminating account of Anne’s thirteen years spent in care.

Tickets £12.50 (Including booking fee)

Middlesbrough Theatre has an intimacy that belies its 486 seat capacity. A winning combination that has enabled the theatre to play host to a wide variety of performances from big bands and stand-up comedy to full-scale amateur musicals and Indian dance.
